Sell my Warhammer: how to sell Warhammer armies and miniatures in the UK

Shelves of Space Marines or a pile of unbuilt boxes? How to value and sell Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar and other Games Workshop miniatures, built or on the sprue.

Updated 25 October 2026 · 3 min read

Warhammer is one of the most popular tabletop hobbies in the UK, and it's also one of the easiest to accumulate. Armies grow, new editions come out, people switch factions, and boxes of unbuilt miniatures pile up. If you've stepped back from the hobby, your collection can find a happy home with someone else.

What sells

  • Warhammer 40,000 — Space Marines, Necrons, Tyranids, Astra Militarum, Orks, Aeldari and more.
  • Age of Sigmar — Stormcast Eternals, Skaven, Nighthaunt and others.
  • Specialist games — Kill Team, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Warcry, Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, Horus Heresy and Legions Imperialis.
  • Starter sets and launch boxes — complete boxed sets are particularly easy to sell.
  • Rulebooks, codexes and battletomes — current editions are more useful than old ones.
  • Paints, brushes and tools — Citadel paints and quality tools, with some restrictions (see below).
  • Terrain — buildings, scatter terrain and gaming mats within size limits.

What makes Warhammer valuable

Built, painted or on the sprue?

This is the biggest factor:

  • New in box (NIB) / on sprue: unbuilt models still on their frames are the easiest to value. Sealed boxes are best.
  • Built and unpainted: still useful to players, though some collectors prefer to build their own.
  • Primed: similar to built.
  • Painted: depends on quality. Well-painted miniatures can be attractive to buyers who want a ready-to-play army. Basic or rushed paint jobs can mean buyers plan to strip them, which reduces value.

Describe your models honestly — "built and painted to a tabletop standard" is useful information.

Completeness

  • Check boxes contain all sprues, bases and transfers.
  • Built models should have all their weapons and parts.
  • Note whether you have the transfers (decals) and instructions.

Condition

Broken parts, missing weapons, chipped paint and bent pieces all reduce value. Small repairs are fine if they're clean.

Out-of-production models

Older or discontinued models — including metal miniatures from earlier eras — can be of interest to collectors. Note any you have.

Sorting your collection

  1. Group by faction and game. Space Marines with Space Marines, Stormcast with Stormcast.
  2. Separate boxed from loose.
  3. Make a list of units and characters for each faction. For example: "Space Marines: 10 Intercessors, 1 Captain, 1 Redemptor Dreadnought, all built and painted".
  4. Count sprues in boxes you've opened but not built.
  5. Gather codexes and rulebooks for each faction.

Paints and tools

Water-based acrylic paints like most Citadel paints can usually be posted. But spray paints, primers in aerosol cans, solvent-based products and some glues and thinners are hazardous and can't be posted. Leave all aerosols and solvents out.

Check paints haven't dried out — open a few pots to see. Dried paints aren't worth including.

How to sell your Warhammer

Selling individually

You can sell unit by unit on marketplaces or hobby groups, which can work well but takes a lot of time — photos, descriptions, questions and careful packing of fragile miniatures.

Selling the lot

With SendForCash, describe your collection — factions, units, built/painted/on sprue, and what's in boxes — and get an instant cash offer. Accept, and we email you a free postage label. We pay the same day we inspect.

Packing miniatures

Miniatures are fragile, so take care:

  • On sprue or in boxes: keep sealed boxes sealed. Bag loose sprues.
  • Built miniatures: wrap each one individually in tissue paper or bubble wrap, or use foam trays or a carry case. Make sure spears, banners and antennae are protected.
  • Large models and vehicles: wrap individually and pack with plenty of padding.
  • Use a sturdy box and fill all gaps.

A miniature carry case with foam inserts is ideal — include it if you're selling it.
