Sell my Samsung Galaxy: how to sell a Galaxy S, Z Fold, Z Flip or A series phone
What is my Samsung phone worth? How to find your model, remove your Google and Samsung accounts, reset it and sell a Samsung Galaxy phone in the UK.
Updated 25 October 2026 · 4 min read
Samsung Galaxy phones are among the most popular in the UK, so there's a steady market for used ones. The main thing standing between you and a sale is making sure the phone is properly unlinked from your accounts — otherwise the next owner can't use it.
Find your model
Go to Settings > About phone. You'll see the model name (for example Galaxy S23) and the model number (for example SM-S911B). The storage is under Settings > Device care > Storage, or in About phone > Software information depending on your version.
Main Samsung phone families:
- Galaxy S series — Samsung's flagships, including Plus, Ultra and FE variants.
- Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip — foldable phones.
- Galaxy A series — mid-range phones.
- Galaxy Note — older stylus-equipped flagships, now part of the Ultra line.
What affects what your Samsung phone is worth
- Model and storage. Ultra and foldable models are usually worth the most; A series phones less.
- Condition. Screen scratches, cracked back glass, frame scuffs.
- Screen burn-in. Samsung's AMOLED screens can show faint ghost images of keyboards or navigation bars after long use. Check by displaying a plain grey or white screen at full brightness.
- Battery. Check under Settings > Battery and device care > Diagnostics (via Samsung Members on some versions).
- Network lock. Unlocked phones are easier to resell.
- S Pen. For Ultra and Note models, including the S Pen matters.
Foldables: extra checks
For Z Fold and Z Flip phones, check carefully:
- The inner screen. Look for bubbles under the pre-fitted screen protector, dead pixels, or a crease that has become damaged. The crease itself is normal.
- The hinge. It should open and close smoothly and hold its position.
- The cover screen on the outside.
- The pre-applied protector on the inner screen shouldn't be removed — it's part of the display assembly on many models.
Step 1: Back up your phone
Use Samsung Cloud, Google One backup, or Samsung Smart Switch to move everything to your new phone or a computer. Check that photos are saved to Google Photos or Samsung's gallery cloud sync, and back up WhatsApp chats within WhatsApp's settings.
Step 2: Remove your accounts
This is essential. Android phones have Factory Reset Protection (FRP), which locks the phone to your Google account even after a reset if you don't remove the account first.
- Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts.
- Remove your Google account.
- Remove your Samsung account.
- Turn off Find My Mobile if it's still on (Settings > Security and privacy > Lost device protection, or similar).
Step 3: Remove SIM, eSIM and memory card
Take out your SIM card and microSD card (on models that have a slot). If you use an eSIM, transfer it to your new phone first, or remove it during the reset.
Step 4: Factory reset
Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset. Confirm, and enter your PIN if asked. The phone will restart to the welcome screen. Don't set it up again.
Step 5: Clean it
Wipe the screen and back with a microfibre cloth. Clear the USB-C port and speaker grilles gently with a dry soft brush or wooden toothpick. Remove your case.
Selling your Samsung
With SendForCash, describe the model, storage, condition and what's included, and get an instant cash offer. Accept it and we email you a free postage label. We pay the same day we inspect, by bank transfer or PayPal. Offers are valid for five days after you accept, so there's time to back up and reset.
Packing
Wrap the phone in bubble wrap and put it in a small rigid box, with padding so it can't move. Foldables should be packed closed. See our packing guide.
Samsung tablets and watches
Selling a Galaxy Tab or Galaxy Watch too? Remove them from your Samsung and Google accounts and reset them in the same way. See selling an iPad, Kindle or tablet and selling a smartwatch.
FAQ
What happens if I forget to remove my Google account?
The phone will ask for the previous owner's Google account after reset and can't be used. We can't accept phones with FRP still active.
Can I sell a Samsung with screen burn-in?
Light burn-in that's only visible on a plain grey screen should be mentioned. Heavy burn-in that's clearly visible in normal use counts as a fault.
Do you buy Samsung phones on contract?
You can sell a phone you own outright. Phones with outstanding device finance or that are blacklisted can't be accepted.
Is a Galaxy A series phone worth selling?
Newer A series models often are. Older ones may fall below our £15 minimum. Get an instant offer to find out.
Do I need the charger?
Recent Samsung phones come with just a cable, so it's fine to send the phone alone. Include the cable if you have it.
