Dyson products are built to last and well known, which means they're very sellable second-hand. Maybe you've upgraded to a newer cordless model, an Airwrap was a gift you never got the hang of, or a fan is surplus after a move. Here's how to get the most from selling it.
Dyson products that sell well
- Cordless stick vacuums — the V-series, Gen5, Detect and similar.
- Hair care — Airwrap, Supersonic hair dryer, Corrale straighteners and Airstrait.
- Air purifiers, fans and heaters — the Pure Cool, Hot+Cool and Purifier ranges.
- Lighting — desk and floor lamps.
Upright and cylinder vacuums are also welcome if they're within the 30kg and 1.5m size limits for posting, which most are.
What affects the value
- Model and age. Newer generations are worth more.
- Battery health on cordless vacuums. If the run time has dropped dramatically, or it pulses and cuts out, the battery is failing — that counts as a fault.
- Attachments. Dyson tools add real value — the full set of heads, the dock and the charger. For an Airwrap, the attachments and case matter a lot.
- Cleanliness. A clean vacuum is a different proposition to one full of hair and dust.
How to clean a Dyson vacuum before selling
- Empty the bin and wipe it out with a damp cloth.
- Wash the filters according to Dyson's instructions (usually cold water only, no detergent) and let them dry completely — at least 24 hours.
- Cut hair off the brush bar and clean the cleaner head.
- Wipe down the body and attachments.
- Charge it fully and test every mode.
Hair care items
For Airwraps and Supersonics, clean the filter on the cable end (it lifts off on most models), wipe down the body and attachments, and check all heat and speed settings work. Include the case and every attachment you have.
Selling options
On marketplaces, Dyson listings attract a lot of interest — and a lot of questions, lowball offers and people wanting to test it at your house. If you'd rather skip all that, describe your Dyson on SendForCash and get an instant cash offer. Accept it and we email a free postage label. We pay the same day we inspect, by bank transfer or PayPal.
Packing a Dyson
The original box is ideal. Otherwise, separate the wand from the main body, wrap each piece and each attachment, and box them with plenty of padding. Fans and purifiers need extra care around the loop and the base. See our packing guide.
FAQ
Do you buy Dyson vacuums that need a new battery?
No — we only buy items that work properly. If you replace the battery with a genuine one and it works well, then it's welcome.
Is a fake Dyson Airwrap a problem?
Yes. We can't buy counterfeit products. If you bought from an unofficial seller and you're unsure, mention it.
Do I need the receipt?
No, though it's useful to know roughly when you bought it.
Can I include extra non-Dyson attachments?
You can, but genuine Dyson parts are what count towards value.
