How to sell a drone or GoPro action camera

Selling a DJI drone, GoPro or Insta360 in the UK? How to unbind it from your account, check batteries and pack it safely — then get an instant cash offer.

Updated 13 October 2026 · 3 min read

Drones and action cameras are bought for adventures — a holiday, a hobby, a big trip. Then the adventure ends and the kit goes in a cupboard. Popular models from DJI, GoPro and Insta360 hold value well, especially when they're complete with batteries and accessories.

What sells well

  • DJI drones — Mini, Air, Mavic and Avata series.
  • GoPro — HERO models and the MAX 360 camera.
  • Insta360 — X series and other 360 and action cameras.
  • DJI Osmo — Pocket, Action and gimbal stabilisers.
  • Accessories — spare batteries, charging hubs, ND filters, mounts and cases.

Drones: unbind from your account

DJI drones are linked to your DJI account. Before you sell, unbind the drone in the DJI Fly app (or the app your drone uses), usually under the device or account settings. A drone that's still bound to someone else's account can't be used by the next owner.

Also remove any Care Refresh plan details if applicable, and reset the controller if it has a built-in screen.

Drone checks

  1. Fly it and check it hovers steadily, all cameras and gimbal axes work, and there are no error messages.
  2. Check the propellers for chips or cracks. Spare props are cheap and replacing damaged ones improves your offer.
  3. Inspect the gimbal and camera for damage — this is the most fragile part.
  4. Check battery health in the app. Swollen batteries are hazardous and must not be posted.

GoPro and action cameras

  1. Remove the camera from the GoPro Quik app (or the relevant app).
  2. Reset the camera: on recent GoPros, Preferences > Reset > Factory Reset.
  3. Remove the memory card or format it.
  4. Check the lens cover for scratches — on many models it's replaceable.

Batteries and posting

Lithium batteries should be packed inside the device or with it, not loose, and must be undamaged. Partially charge them rather than fully charged for posting. Any swollen or damaged batteries should be recycled at a battery recycling point instead.

Selling

Describe your drone or camera on SendForCash — model, condition, how many batteries, which accessories — and get an instant cash offer. Accept and we email a free postage label. We pay the same day we inspect.

Packing

A drone's original case or fly-more bag is perfect inside an outer box. Fit the gimbal protector. For action cameras, a small box with padding is all you need.

FAQ

Do you buy drones that have crashed?

Only if they've been repaired and work properly. A drone with a damaged gimbal or motor isn't one we can accept.

Do I need to transfer the drone's registration?

In the UK, the operator ID is linked to the operator, not a specific drone. Remove your operator ID label from the drone before selling. Check the CAA's guidance for current rules.

Can I sell spare batteries on their own?

Please pack them with the drone or charging hub they belong to.

Do you buy older GoPros?

If it works and meets our £15 minimum, yes.
